Chapter 7 - The Wrath of a King

Victor did not panic when I told him the news.

He did not shout, he did not throw things, and he did not show fear.

Instead, a chilling, absolute stillness came over him.

It was the terrifying calm of a predator about to annihilate its prey.

"Get your coat," Victor said, loading a fresh magazine into his sidearm.

"I am not leaving you behind to worry."

"We are going to get our daughter back."

Hearing him say 'our daughter' sent a jolt of fierce determination through my veins.

Within twenty minutes, a convoy of heavily armored black SUVs tore through the city streets.

Victor had mobilized his entire army.

He utilized every contact, every bribe, and every threat he possessed to locate Marcus.

The intel pointed to an abandoned shipping yard on the industrial edge of the harbor.

"Stay in the vehicle until it is secure," Victor ordered as we pulled up to the rusted gates.

"No," I defied him, grabbing a heavy steel flashlight from the dashboard.

"She is my daughter, and I am not hiding in a car."

Victor looked at me, a spark of genuine respect igniting in his cold eyes.

"Stay behind me, and do exactly as I say," he commanded.

We moved into the rain-slicked shipping yard, the shadows hiding Victor's lethal enforcers.
