Six months later, the city’s underworld had been completely reshaped.

Victor had ruthlessly dismantled the rival cartels, ensuring absolute peace on the streets.

But more importantly, he had begun the arduous process of going legitimate.

The casinos and hotels were now transparent corporations, and the violent enforcers had become corporate security.

We were standing in the grand ballroom of his flagship hotel, hosting a charity gala for local orphanages.

A nanny approached, carrying a babbling Maya who was dressed in a tiny silver dress to match mine.

Maya immediately reached out for Victor, grabbing his nose and laughing happily.

Victor melted instantly, taking her into his strong arms and kissing her forehead.

The city's most ruthless kingpin had been entirely defeated by a tiny baby with a plush bunny.
