Chapter 3 - The Intercepted Truth

Vanessa stood in the doorway of the guest suite, wearing a tailored Chanel suit, her eyes darting from me to the babies on the bed.

“What is this?” she demanded, her perfectly manicured hands resting on her hips. “Whose kids are these?”

Before I could answer, the bathroom door opened, and Sarah stepped out, wrapped in a thick white robe, her wet hair clinging to her shoulders.

Vanessa’s face went pale. “Her? You brought her into our house?”

“Vanessa, we need to talk in the hallway,” I said, keeping my voice dangerously low.

I stepped out, closing the guest room door behind me. “Those are my children, Vanessa. Twins. And Sarah is staying here.”

“Are you insane?!” Vanessa hissed. “She’s a grifter, Julian! She’s probably trying to extort you! You don't even know if those brats are yours!”

“They have my eyes. And she tried to tell me,” I stepped closer, my voice dropping to a deadly whisper. “She said she came to the office. She said she called and emailed. You told security to throw her out.”

Vanessa didn't even flinch. She crossed her arms. “I was protecting you. She was a toxic part of your past. You were finally building an empire, Julian. She would have dragged you down with a sob story and a trap pregnancy. I deleted her emails. I blocked her number. I did what a good partner does.”

I stared at the woman I was supposed to marry in three months. I had thought she was fiercely loyal. Now I saw her for what she truly was: a monster who had left two infants to freeze in the streets just to protect her lifestyle.

“Take your ring off,” I said softly.

“Excuse me?”

“Take the ring off, pack your things, and get out of my house. If you are not gone by the time I wake up tomorrow, I will have you arrested for trespassing. And come Monday, you are fired.”
