Chapter 10 - The Vows

We didn’t have a massive wedding. We didn't invite hundreds of corporate guests or rent out a luxury venue.
We stood under the old oak tree in the center of Riverton Park—exactly fifty yards from the bench where I had found her a year prior.
Eleanor held Leo, and my mother held Mia. The autumn leaves were turning gold and amber, drifting down around us in the crisp breeze.
As I looked at Sarah, wearing a simple, elegant ivory gown, the full weight of our journey settled over me. We had been broken, lost, and deceived. But we had found our way back to each other, forged in the fire of absolute rock bottom.
“I promise,” I said, slipping the ring onto her finger, “never to lose sight of what matters again. I promise to be your sanctuary, your partner, and your biggest champion. I will never let you face the cold alone.”
Sarah smiled, wiping a tear from her cheek. “I promise to let you in. To trust you. And to build a life with you that is stronger than anything that tries to break it.”
