Chapter 10 - The Fall of Preston Whitcomb

The mercenary strike failed. By dawn, Enzo's men had neutralized the threat, and Mateo had captured the man who orchestrated the attack: Preston Whitcomb, found hiding in a van a mile down the road.
Preston was dragged into Enzo’s basement, bound to a steel chair. He was bruised, bleeding, and finally, truly terrified.
Enzo walked down the concrete steps, wiping blood from his hands with a towel. Harper walked beside him. She had insisted on coming.
Preston’s eyes widened when he saw his daughter. "Harper... tell him to let me go. I'm your father!"
Harper looked at the man who had ordered the death of Enzo's brother. The man who had scarred her back and shattered her childhood.
"You aren't a father," Harper said, her voice steady and ice-cold. "You're a transaction. And you sold me to the wrong man."
She turned to Enzo, stepping back into the shadows. "Do it."

Enzo looked at Preston, a cruel, satisfied smile touching his lips. He drew his weapon. "This is for Nathan," Enzo whispered. "And the scars on my wife's back."
The gunshot echoed through the basement, sealing Preston’s fate, and forging an unbreakable bond between the mafia king and the broken princess he had sworn to protect.
