Chapter 10 - The Name On The Building

One year later.

The sun shone brightly over the Callaway Grand Hotel.

The lobby was still filled with men in dark suits and women in pearls.

But it was no longer perfectly quiet.

A little girl in a bright yellow dress ran across the polished marble floor.

Her shoes matched perfectly.

She giggled as Pax, the terrifying head of security, chased her at a slow, exaggerated pace.

Donovan stood by the concierge desk, watching them with a warm smile.

Greer handed him a manila folder.

"The adoption papers went through this morning," Greer said, smiling.

"It’s completely official."

Donovan opened the file and looked at the name printed in bold black ink.

Mave Callaway-Ree.

He closed the folder and looked up at the giant brass crest hanging from the chandelier.

He had bought the hotel to destroy the legacy of the men who built it.

Instead, he ended up saving the most important piece of it.

Mave ran over to him, throwing her arms around his legs.

"Can we go upstairs and have grilled cheese?" she asked, looking up with bright, happy eyes.

Donovan scooped her up into his arms, resting her on his hip.

He didn't care about his expensive suit or the guests watching them.

"We can have whatever you want, kid," Donovan said, kissing her forehead.

They walked toward the private elevator together.

The little girl who tried to give herself away had finally found someone who would never let her go.
