Chapter 7 - The Fractured Alliance

As soon as the heavy front door finally clicked shut, Mark aggressively grabbed Sarah violently by the shoulders.

"We desperately need to pack whatever loose cash we actually have and get out of this country tonight," he demanded frantically.

"If we foolishly run, we legally forfeit the entire billionaire estate, you absolute coward!" Sarah furiously spat back, forcefully slapping his hands away.

"They absolutely know he was violently pushed, Sarah, they are actively building a strong murder case against us as we speak!" he roared defensively.

Mark angrily stormed up the grand staircase, frantically throwing his expensive designer clothes into a large leather duffel bag.

Sarah painfully realized in that terrifying moment that her cowardly lover was completely unraveling under the immense pressure.

He was definitely going to get caught, and he was undoubtedly going to betray her to dramatically save himself.

She quietly opened her bedside drawer and smoothly retrieved a small, highly lethal silver revolver.

If Mark actually tried to leave and desperately make a deal with the police, she would simply have to permanently silence him forever.

She slowly walked cautiously toward his guest bedroom, tightly hiding the cold weapon securely behind her back.

But as she gently pushed the heavy oak door open, she shockingly found the room completely empty.

The large window was wide open, the sheer curtains violently blowing in the cold evening wind.

Mark had selfishly abandoned her without a second thought.

Suddenly, her cell phone vibrated violently in her deep pocket.
