Chapter 5 - The Draining Accounts

Panic quickly mutated into full-blown, destructive paranoia over the next several agonizing days.

Sarah immediately ordered state-of-the-art security cameras installed in every single dark corner of the sprawling property.

Mark nervously decided to stay at the mansion permanently, constantly keeping a loaded pistol safely hidden under his pillow at all times.

The terrifying situation aggressively escalated from incredibly bad to disastrous on a rainy Tuesday morning.

Sarah received an urgent, highly frantic phone call from her personal wealth manager.

"Mrs. Sterling, there is massive, totally unauthorized activity happening rapidly across all of your husband's offshore accounts," the banker stuttered nervously.

"What do you mean by unauthorized activity?" Sarah snapped angrily, her throat suddenly feeling incredibly tight.

"Someone with the master security codes is systematically draining millions of dollars and quickly transferring it to untraceable cryptocurrency wallets," he explained frantically.

Sarah helplessly dropped the expensive phone, watching it shatter violently against the pristine marble floor.

Only two people in the entire world actually knew those complicated, encrypted master passcodes.

One was Sarah herself, and the other was her paralyzed, supposedly deceased husband.

She aggressively turned on Mark, her wide eyes burning with pure, unadulterated suspicion and hatred.

"Are you secretly trying to steal the money before the trust completely locks it down?" she viciously accused him.

Mark looked genuinely horrified and deeply offended by the sudden, wild accusation.

"I don't even know the passcodes, you incredibly paranoid lunatic!" he shouted back angrily.

The unbreakable, sinister bond between the two greedy conspirators was beginning to violently and permanently fracture.
