The next morning, Luca sat at the command table in the bunker, a fresh black shirt covering his bandages. I sat directly beside him, refusing to leave his side, while his capos gathered around the tactical map.
“Julian thinks he can strike at the king and miss,” Luca said, his voice cold and calculating. “He endangered my wife. He endangered my family. Tear apart his ports. Burn his warehouses. I want Julian Vance brought to me alive by midnight.”

“He won't be at the docks,” I interrupted, pointing to a secluded area on the map just outside the city limits. “He has a private safehouse in the Berkshires. It’s off the books. My father bought it under a shell corporation ten years ago. It has a reinforced panic room.”
The capos stared at me. Luca smiled, a dark, proud expression.
“Can you get us past the panic room doors?” Luca asked.
“The passcode is my mother’s birthday,” I said coldly. “He never bothered to change it because he thinks he’s smarter than everyone else.”
“Gear up,” Luca ordered his men, standing from the table. He looked at me, his eyes burning with lethal intent. “We are going to end the Vance empire tonight. For good.”

Luca didn't argue. He simply handed me a sleek, compact 9mm pistol. “Keep the safety on until you need it.”
