Chapter 10 - The Aftermath

Six months later, the Belmont Estate was once again filled with the soft, beautiful melodies of a jazz trio.

The broken windows had been replaced, the bloody rugs had been burned, and the darkness of that night had finally faded.

Caroline Vance had been sentenced to thirty-five years in federal prison, completely stripped of her wealth, her title, and her freedom.

Arthur had survived, completely recovering from his injuries, though he walked with a slight limp that he considered a badge of honor.

He stood near the grand fireplace, smiling warmly as he watched the crowd of joyous guests.

Tonight was not just a celebration; it was a reclaiming of the joy that had been so violently stolen from them.

Julian and Elena were finally getting the reception they had missed on their actual wedding day.

Elena wore a new, beautiful silk gown, entirely free of blood and terrifying memories.

Julian pulled her close on the dance floor, swaying gently to the music as the guests clapped and cheered.

"You look absolutely breathtaking, Mrs. Vance," Julian whispered, kissing the top of her head.

"I feel pretty breathtaking," Elena smiled, leaning her head against his chest.

At the edge of the dance floor, Leo stood wearing a brand-new, perfectly tailored suit.

He looked healthy, happy, and entirely free from the shadow of terror that used to haunt his eyes.

Arthur walked over to his son, placing a loving, gentle hand on his small shoulder.

Leo looked up at his father, smiled brightly, and then ran onto the dance floor to join Julian and Elena.

Julian picked the boy up, spinning him around as Leo laughed loudly, a sound that brought tears of pure joy to Elena's eyes.

They were no longer just survivors of a terrible, violent tragedy.

They were a fiercely loyal, unbreakable family, bound together by the darkest night of their lives.

And as the chandelier light turned their champagne into liquid gold, Elena knew they would never be broken again.
