Chapter 9 - The Father's Reward

Project Leo wasn't just a success; it was a revolution. It sold out globally in three days. Schools, hospitals, and parents around the world flooded the company with letters of gratitude.

Vance Dynamics' stock skyrocketed, surpassing all previous records.

A month later, Eleanor called me into her office.

She slid a thick, leather-bound portfolio across the desk.

"What's this?" I asked.

"You refused my money once, Thomas," she smiled, her eyes warm and bright. "You can't refuse it twice. That is a permanent partnership contract. You are officially the Vice President of Accessible Tech. With a salary to match, and an equity stake in the company."

I opened the folder. The numbers printed on the page were staggering. It was generational wealth. It was enough to ensure that my son, Sam, would be cared for, protected, and independent long after I was gone.

"And," Eleanor added softly, "there is a private grant in there. Five million dollars, donated in your name to the county library system, specifically to fund the historical archives department. I hear they have a very talented young archivist working there who could use a state-of-the-art facility."

I looked up at her, my throat tight. "Eleanor... you didn't have to do that."

"Thomas," she said, reaching across the desk to cover my calloused hand with hers. "You gave my son his voice. You gave me my life back. It is the very least I can do."
