Chapter 8 - The Launch

Two days later, Richard was quietly escorted out of the building in handcuffs by federal agents.
The board of directors, terrified by the scandal Richard had caused, unanimously backed Eleanor, issuing a public statement of complete confidence in her leadership and in Project Leo.
The tech expo launch was the most anticipated event of the year.
Eleanor stood on the massive stage under the glowing lights, but she didn't give the presentation. She introduced me.
I walked out onto the stage, wearing a tailored suit Eleanor had bought for me. I looked out into the crowd of thousands of tech journalists and investors. But I wasn't looking at them. I was looking at the front row, where my son Sam sat next to little Leo Vance.
I introduced the Leo Pad—a tablet designed with perfect tactile feedback, zero high-frequency emissions, and a revolutionary communication interface.
"We didn't build this to change how neurodivergent people see the world," I told the crowd, my voice echoing through the massive hall. "We built this to change how the world interacts with them. Because they aren't broken. They just speak a different language. And it's time we learned how to listen."
The crowd erupted into a standing ovation.
On the massive screen behind me, a video played. It was Leo, pressing the specialized mechanical keys on the new tablet. The computerized voice rang out clear and bright.
