The grand ballroom of the Sterling Estate was lit up once again. But this time, there were no vipers hiding in the shadows. The room was filled with true friends, loyal employees, and the bright, happy faces of the students from Maya’s culinary academy, who had catered the event.
I stood near the grand staircase, wearing a sharp black tuxedo, holding a glass of champagne. I wasn't sitting in a wheelchair. I wasn't hiding.
The music swelled, and the crowd parted.
Maya walked toward me. She wore a stunning, deep emerald gown that caught the light of the crystal chandeliers. She carried herself with the grace and confidence of a queen. The socialites who used to look down on her now stepped aside with quiet respect.
She reached my side, slipping her hand effortlessly into mine.
"You throw a lovely party, Mr. Sterling," she teased, her eyes sparkling.

"I have excellent taste in partners, Mrs. Sterling," I replied, glancing down at the simple, elegant gold band on her left hand.
We raised our glasses together. I looked out at the room, realizing that the accident had truly been the greatest blessing of my life. It had broken the illusion of my old world, only to help me build a real, unshakable empire with the woman who truly mattered.
