Chapter 5 - The Family Retaliation

The news of Eleanor's looming felony charges spread through our extended family like a devastating wildfire.

By the weekend, my property had become a target for my enraged aunts, uncles, and cousins who relied on my mother's stolen handouts.

It started with nasty voicemails, demanding that I drop the charges and apologize for humiliating the family matriarch.

When I blocked their numbers, they escalated their harassment to a frightening new level.

On Sunday morning, I woke up to the sound of breaking glass and shattering porcelain coming from the front yard.

I rushed to the window to see my Aunt Beatrice and Uncle Henry throwing rocks at my cars and smashing the expensive landscaping pots on our porch.

Clara grabbed Leo and hid in the master bedroom closet, terrified that they were going to break down the front door.

I didn't hesitate for a second; I hit the panic button on our home security system and immediately dialed 911.

I stepped out onto the front porch, holding a heavy baseball bat tightly in my grip to protect my property.

"You're a monster, Julian!" Aunt Beatrice shrieked, pointing a shaking finger at me.

"Your mother is facing ten years behind bars because you chose a worthless woman over your own flesh and blood!"

"My mother is a thief, and you are all accomplices who happily ate the food bought with my stolen money," I roared back, stepping off the porch.

The wail of police sirens echoed down the street, causing my relatives to scatter like cockroaches when the lights turn on.

The police managed to block their vehicles at the end of the cul-de-sac, arresting Beatrice and Henry for vandalism and trespassing.

The very next morning, my lawyer and I marched into the local courthouse and filed emergency, iron-clad restraining orders against every single relative who had attended that cursed barbecue.

We installed state-of-the-art security cameras around the entire perimeter of our house and hired private security to patrol our street for the next month.

I also posted a public message on Facebook, tagging every extended family member.

I laid out the undeniable facts, attaching blurred photos of the forged deed and the drained bank accounts.

I exposed the truth that Eleanor was not a generous matriarch, but a desperate criminal who stole from a sick infant.

The post went incredibly viral within our community, completely destroying Eleanor's carefully crafted social reputation overnight.

The harassment finally stopped as the extended family retreated into ashamed silence, realizing they were on the wrong side of the law.

We were finally safe in our own home, but the emotional scars left on Clara were still glaringly visible.
