Chapter 6 - The Lion's Wrath

The failed kidnapping attempt at Central Park sent absolute shockwaves through the entire criminal underworld.
Nobody had dared to strike at Adrian Moretti in broad daylight for over a decade.
Adrian stood in the center of his massive, dimly lit security compound, completely surrounded by his heavily armed lieutenants.
His face was an unreadable mask of pure, concentrated fury.
"The Falcone family has officially broken the ultimate peace treaty," Adrian announced to his loyal men.
"They tried to steal a child who falls under my absolute, sworn protection."
Marcus stepped forward, wiping a small speck of blood from his hardened cheek.
"What are your exact orders, Boss?" Marcus asked calmly.
"I want every single business the Falcones own completely leveled by midnight," Adrian ordered ruthlessly.
"Burn their warehouses, sink their shipping boats, and empty out their illegal casinos."
"Leave Don Falcone alive so he can watch his entire empire turn into useless ash."
The room erupted into a chorus of dark, violent agreement as the men prepared for absolute war.
Meanwhile, Adrian ordered a heavily armored convoy to immediately extract Sarah from the hospital.
He moved Sarah and Mia directly into his massive, heavily fortified private mansion in upstate New York.
The estate was surrounded by ten-foot steel walls and guarded by highly trained mercenaries.
Sarah sat nervously on the edge of a luxurious velvet couch in the mansion’s grand library.
She watched anxiously as armed men constantly patrolled the beautiful, manicured gardens outside the window.
Adrian walked into the room, carrying a tray with hot tea and warm cookies.
"I am so incredibly sorry to bring this violence to your door," Adrian said softly, placing the tray down.
Sarah looked at the terrifying Mafia boss, realizing he was doing everything in his power to keep them safe.
"You saved my life, Adrian," Sarah replied, using his first name for the very first time.
"And you fought off armed men just to protect my little girl."
"I don't care what you do for a living, you are a remarkably good man to us."
Adrian felt a strange, tight knot completely unravel inside his heavy chest.
Mia ran into the room, completely oblivious to the massive gang war raging outside.
She was wearing a beautiful new dress and carrying a large, stuffed golden retriever toy.
She ran straight to Adrian and wrapped her tiny arms tightly around his legs.
"Thank you for my new toy, Mr. Moretti!" Mia cheered happily.

Adrian gently patted her head, a rare, genuine smile touching his lips.
He would gladly sacrifice every single dollar of his empire just to keep that smile on her face.
