Chapter 8 - The Docks

I didn't get on the plane.
Instead, I sat in the bulletproof SUV with Gabriel’s most trusted bodyguard, Luca, watching from a vantage point as Gabriel walked into the abandoned shipping yard. The rain had returned, slicking the concrete.
Silas was waiting, surrounded by twenty armed men.
“You look terrible, Gabe,” Silas’s voice echoed across the yard. “Where are the brats?”
“Somewhere you will never find them,” Gabriel replied, his voice calm, projecting absolute power.
“Kill him,” Silas ordered, waving a hand.
But before Silas’s men could raise their weapons, the shipping containers around them groaned. The doors kicked open, and dozens of Gabriel’s loyal enforcers poured out, assault rifles raised. The trap had been sprung.
Gunfire erupted.
I screamed as bullets tore through the air. It was absolute chaos. Through the windshield, I saw Gabriel moving with lethal precision, taking down men as he pushed relentlessly toward Silas.

But Silas was a coward. He turned and ran toward a speedboat waiting at the edge of the dock. Gabriel pursued him, tackling Silas onto the wooden planks.
The two men fought brutally, hand-to-hand. I watched in horror as Silas pulled a combat knife and slashed Gabriel’s arm, dangerously close to his healing gunshot wound.
