Chapter 6 - The Interrogation Room

Victoria sat in the stark, metal chair of the police precinct's interrogation room. Her champagne silk dress was wrinkled, her makeup smeared down her cheeks. The haughty arrogance was completely gone, replaced by the frantic energy of a cornered animal.

The door opened, but it wasn't a detective who walked in. It was Alexander.

"Alex!" Victoria cried, lunging forward, only to be stopped by the handcuffs chaining her to the table. "Alex, please. You have to believe me. Julian forced me to do it! He threatened me!"

Alexander sat across from her, his expression utterly unreadable. "Julian is in the cell down the hall, Victoria. He’s already given a full confession. He said pushing my mother was entirely your idea. He just wanted the money; you wanted her dead so you wouldn't have to share the mansion."

Victoria gasped, shaking her head wildly. "No! He's lying! I love you! I was going to be your wife!"

"You were a parasite," Alexander stated coldly. "I came here to tell you two things. First, my legal team has ensured you will not get bail. Second, the moment you are transferred to state prison, I am personally funding the legal defense of every single inmate you'll be housed with, just to make sure they know exactly who you are."

Victoria’s screams echoed through the concrete halls as Alexander turned his back and walked out, not sparing her a single backward glance.
