Chapter 10 - The Unbreakable Empire

One Year Later.
The ballroom of the Plaza Hotel in New York City was packed with the global tech elite. Champagne flowed, cameras flashed, and the hum of powerful conversations filled the air.
It was the annual Vance Innovations Gala.
Julian stood near the front of the stage, dressed in a sharp black tuxedo, holding a glass of sparkling water. He wasn't mingling. He was watching the stage.
The crowd erupted into thunderous applause as the CEO stepped up to the podium.
Elise Vance looked breathtaking.
She wore a sleek, emerald-green gown that perfectly complemented her dark hair, which had grown out into an elegant, sweeping style. The hollows of her cheeks were gone, replaced by a radiant, undeniable strength. The scars on her wrists were hidden beneath delicate diamond bracelets, but she wore them like badges of honor.
"Thank you," Elise said into the microphone, her voice carrying absolute authority. "This year, Vance Innovations didn't just break revenue records. We broke barriers. We launched the new Aegis Security Protocol, a system designed to protect the vulnerable, secure the truth, and ensure that no one can ever be silenced by corruption."
The crowd cheered again.
Julian smiled, his chest tight with overwhelming pride.
Marcus Thorne was currently serving consecutive life sentences in a maximum-security federal prison in Florence, Colorado. Vivian had pleaded guilty to conspiracy and was serving ten years. Keller had turned state's evidence but was still locked away for twenty.
The monsters were gone.
Elise finished her speech to a standing ovation. She stepped down from the stage, the crowd parting respectfully to let her through. She didn't stop for the reporters or the investors. She walked straight to Julian.
He offered his hand. She took it, intertwining her fingers with his.
"Brilliant speech," Julian murmured, kissing her temple.
"I had a good muse," Elise smiled, leaning into him.
They walked out of the ballroom together, leaving the noise and the cameras behind. They stepped into the cool New York night, their waiting car idling at the curb.
Four years ago, Elise had been a ghost, wandering the halls of a frozen cage. Tonight, she owned the world.

Julian opened the car door for her, looking at his wife—his partner, his equal, his survivor. They had walked through hell, and instead of burning, they had learned how to control the fire.
The Vance empire was no longer just a tech company. It was a fortress. And this time, Elise held all the keys.
