Chapter 14 - The Obsidian Return

Six months later, Julian found himself walking back into The Obsidian Vault.
The atmosphere was exactly the same—the low hum of exclusive jazz, the scent of expensive cigars, the ambient glow of wealth. But this time, he wasn't there to track down a stolen credit card. He was there to celebrate the launch of Thorne Capital's newest international expansion fund.
The concierge—the same man who had nervously declined Sarah's card—spotted Julian immediately and practically sprinted over, his posture subservient.
"Mr. Thorne. Welcome back, sir. It is an absolute honor to have you," the concierge beamed, bowing slightly. "Your private suite is ready. We have the 1926 Macallan decanted, just as you requested."
"Thank you, Thomas," Julian said smoothly, slipping the man a crisp hundred-dollar bill. "I'm expecting a few guests. The executive board."
Julian walked up the winding glass staircase to the Owner's Suite. It was the exact same room where Sarah's empire had crumbled. Now, it was his fortress.

As his board members began to arrive, laughing, shaking hands, and toasting to record-breaking quarter profits, Julian stood by the window, looking out over the financial district. He had taken a massive hit, endured a brutal betrayal, and emerged ten times stronger.
He didn't just survive the fire; he had bought the ashes and built a skyscraper on top of them.
