Chapter 9 - The Aftermath

With the settlement finalized, the funds from Mark's liquidated assets were transferred into a secure, single-signature trust in Julian's name. It was more than enough to cover his entire four years at Stanford, with plenty left over for a down payment on a house one day.
Tiffany filed for divorce while Mark was still awaiting sentencing. She tried to rebrand herself on a new TikTok account as the "survivor of a toxic narcissist," but the internet has a long memory. Her comment sections were flooded with emojis of torn name tags and graduation caps. She eventually deleted her accounts entirely and took a job working the cosmetics counter at a mid-tier department store.
Mark was sentenced to three years in a minimum-security facility. Upon his release, he would be permanently barred from ever working in the financial sector again. The country club stripped his membership. His "friends" vanished. He became exactly what he had always feared: irrelevant.
