Chapter 4 - The Corporate Guillotine

The Rivas empire was built on a foundation of logistics software and real estate, but the secret to their massive wealth was a string of shell companies used to launder money for offshore syndicates. I knew this because, during my five years in that house, I played the silent, obedient wife while secretly memorizing access codes, photographing ledgers, and recording late-night meetings.

For a week, I sat beside my father's forensic accountants, decoding the ledgers I had smuggled out.

"Here," I pointed to a spreadsheet on the monitor. "This account in the Caymans. Santiago uses it to funnel operational costs. But it requires dual-factor authentication. His thumbprint, and a physical token he keeps in a safe at the downtown office."

"The office is currently seized by the feds, but Santiago's men will try to breach it to destroy the token," my father noted.

"They don't need to," I said, a slow, dark smile spreading across my face. I reached into my purse and pulled out a small, encrypted hard drive and a black digital fob. "I switched his token with a dummy two months ago. I have the real one."

The lead accountant stared at me in awe. My father threw his head back and laughed—a booming, proud sound.

Within forty-eight hours, using the evidence I provided, my father’s legal team orchestrated a massive, synchronized financial strike. We didn't steal the money; we exposed the laundering routes to the SEC and international banking authorities.

By Friday morning, Santiago’s accounts were frozen globally. The Rivas stock plummeted by 80%. His board of directors held an emergency vote of no confidence and ousted him as CEO.

Santiago Rivas went to sleep a billionaire and woke up with nothing but the clothes on his back and a mountain of federal indictments.
