Chapter 10 - The Rebirth

It has been exactly one year since the night I locked my cheating husband in the wine cellar.

The highly publicized divorce was finalized incredibly quickly, entirely thanks to my aggressive legal team and that brilliant post-nuptial agreement.

Marcus tried desperately to fight me in court, claiming he deserved half of my bakery empire because he provided "emotional support."

The judge actually laughed out loud in the courtroom when my lawyer presented the security footage of his "emotional support" with Chloe in my basement.

Marcus walked away with absolutely nothing but his old leased car and a mountain of credit card debt.

He was quickly fired from his corporate firm shortly after the incident, entirely unable to handle the social humiliation and the intense office gossip.

I heard through mutual friends that he is currently living in a cramped, drafty apartment with David, struggling to make basic rent.

Eleanor completely stopped showing her face at the local country club after her credit line was officially declined at a charity luncheon.

As for Chloe, she moved back to Ohio, entirely forgotten and completely irrelevant to my life.

I did not let the betrayal destroy my massive ambitions or my incredible momentum.

Instead, I used the profound anger and absolute clarity to completely fuel my empire.

I successfully opened three new boutique bakeries across state lines, expanding my business into a nationally recognized brand.

I completely renovated the underground wine cellar, tearing out the heavy steel door and transforming the dark space into a bright, beautiful private yoga studio.

I replaced the painful memories with natural light, expensive mirrors, and absolute peace.

Tonight, I am hosting a massive launch party for my brand new cookbook, which is already a national bestseller.

My sprawling estate is currently filled with brilliant entrepreneurs, loyal friends, and people who genuinely respect my hard work.

I am wearing a stunning, tailored white suit, holding a glass of extremely expensive champagne, and laughing freely.

I do not miss the man who constantly needed me to shrink myself so he could feel tall.

I do not regret the ruthless, theatrical way I completely exposed his toxic family.

Sometimes, the universe places a massive, heavy door entirely in your path just to see if you are strong enough to lock it.

I took a deep sip of my champagne, looking out over my beautiful, thriving home.

I had completely lost my husband, my in-laws, and my false sense of security.

But looking closely in the mirror, I realized the absolute greatest truth of all.

I had finally, permanently found myself.
