Chapter 1 - The Architect’s Blueprint

I didn’t pack a single suitcase. I didn’t shed a single tear. I simply took Leo’s hand and walked out of the $40 million penthouse that Julian thought he owned.

As the private elevator doors slid shut, I heard Elena’s shrill laughter echoing from the kitchen. Let them laugh. Let them drink the vintage champagne and measure the windows for new drapes. They were celebrating on the deck of a sinking ship, and I was the one holding the detonator.

My driver, Marcus, was waiting in the underground garage. He opened the door of the Maybach without a word.

"To the Vanguard Building, Marcus," I said.

Leo sat beside me in the supple leather seat, his iPad resting on his lap. He wasn't playing games. He was looking at a live ticker of the NASDAQ. His brilliant, beautiful mind processed numbers the way other people processed colors. Julian had always been disgusted by Leo’s lack of interest in sports or small talk, viewing his neurodivergence as a stain on the "perfect" Thorne legacy.

"Mom?" Leo said, his eyes never leaving the screen.

"Yes, my love?"

"The man in the kitchen was wrong," Leo stated matter-of-factly. "He said he keeps Thorne Innovations. But Thorne Innovations is a subsidiary of Rosthchild-Apex Holdings. You are the sole executor of Rosthchild-Apex. He mathematically possesses zero point zero percent."

I smiled, stroking his dark hair. "I know, Leo. We're going to explain that to him very soon."

An hour later, I sat at the head of a massive mahogany table in the Vanguard boardroom. Surrounding me were six of the most ruthless corporate litigators in New York.

"Julian filed the preliminary divorce injunction this morning," my lead attorney, David, said, sliding a tablet across the table. "He’s trying to freeze your personal checking accounts to starve you out before the court date. He also submitted a valuation of Thorne Innovations, claiming the company is heavily in debt and practically worthless, which is why his $300 million offer is 'generous.'"

I looked at the fraudulent valuation. Julian was hiding over two billion dollars in offshore shell companies to cheat me out of my marital share, not realizing I already owned the entire pie.

"Let him freeze the checking accounts," I ordered, my voice ice-cold. "Let him think he has me cornered. Do not reveal the Vanguard proxy documents until we are standing in front of Judge Barrett."

David grinned like a shark smelling blood. "It’s going to be a bloodbath, Clara."

"Good," I replied. "I want him to lose everything he loves. And Julian Thorne only loves money."
